Social media posts as blog drafts

I just had a brainwave. What if social media posts were used as blog drafts, specifically platforms that supported threads (e.g. Bluesky or Twitter^[1]). I’ve unintentionally done this before and it helps me form my opinions better than regular drafts in some cases.

I’ll write a long spitballing thread and then think “this could be a blog post”, copy and paste the thread text into a new Markdown file or WordPress draft and tidy it up. Sometimes that’s grammar and spelling, other times it’s to add or take away ideas that actually don’t work after a few minutes of thought.

I don’t know if I’d recommend this approach to anyone with a large following as social media perceptions are different when you have tens of thousands of followers (I don’t care but a lot of people do it seems). But if you don’t mind letting people see your “drafts”, it could spark something in you.
